Projects Summary

The Ctrl Campus project aimed to streamline campus operations by offering a suite of digital tools tailored to the needs of administrators, organizers, and students. The system included an Admin Web Application for managing tasks like attendance tracking, fee and salary management, and HR operations. Complementing this was the Admin Mobile Application, which provided essential on-the-go features for monitoring organizational performance. Additionally, the Student Web Application allowed parents and students to track school fees, grades, and attendance. These platforms were designed to simplify complex workflows, enhance transparency, and provide a cohesive experience across web and mobile applications.

Target Audience

The primary users of the Ctrl Campus applications were university administrators, faculty members, and students.

  • Administrators needed tools to efficiently manage organizational workflows, track student records, and oversee academic schedules.

  • Faculty members required seamless access to student data, course schedules, and performance tracking for streamlined academic management.

  • Students benefited from easy access to their academic records, timetables, and institutional updates, enhancing their campus experience.

The design aimed to cater to diverse user roles, ensuring intuitive navigation, accessibility, and functionality tailored to the unique needs of each group.

User Needs

  • Administrators needed a centralized platform to manage student records, monitor institutional workflows, and generate reports efficiently. They required features like real-time updates, secure data handling, and quick access to critical information.

  • Faculty members sought tools to streamline course management, track student performance, and access academic resources with minimal friction. They required user-friendly interfaces and smooth navigation to save time and improve efficiency.

  • Students needed a convenient way to access academic schedules, grades, and updates from the institution. The platform had to be mobile-friendly, visually intuitive, and fast to accommodate their on-the-go lifestyle.

Meeting these needs was critical to delivering a seamless, functional, and engaging user experience for all stakeholders.

The Execution

Initial Launch

The execution phase focused on building the Ctrl Campus ERP platform from scratch to deliver a seamless and user-friendly experience. A comprehensive design system was established to ensure consistency and scalability, while a competitive audit identified gaps and inspired user-centric features, such as customizable modules. The platform was redesigned from scratch to address usability issues, including poor alignment and inefficient workflows, with intuitive user flows for tasks like admissions, HR, and finance management. User research and feedback guided design improvements, and separate interfaces were optimized for web and mobile users. Continuous testing and iteration ensured a polished, effective solution tailored to diverse organizational needs.

The Results

  • Improved Usability: The redesigned platform addressed critical usability issues, such as inconsistent alignment and lack of structure, creating a seamless user experience.

  • Positive Feedback: The revamped design system and user flows received praise from clients for their clarity and efficiency.

  • Increased Appeal: The updated interface and competitive features positioned Ctrl Campus as a strong contender in the market, offering a polished alternative to existing competitors.

  • Enhanced Customization: Organizations appreciated the ability to customize modules, which made the ERP software adaptable to diverse needs.

  • Mobile Compatibility: The mobile app enabled users to track and manage tasks efficiently, complementing the desktop experience.

These results demonstrated the power of thoughtful design in transforming complex software into a user-friendly and scalable solution.

The Conclusion

The Ctrl Campus project focused on building an intuitive ERP system from the ground up, tailored to meet the diverse needs of organizations. By creating a comprehensive design system and streamlining user flows, the project delivered a functional and user-friendly solution that addressed real-world challenges faced by administrators and students. The emphasis on flexibility, customization, and mobile compatibility ensured that the software could adapt to various use cases, providing value to organizations of all sizes. This project underscored the importance of thoughtful, user-centered design in delivering impactful digital solutions.

My Learnings

This was my first job and my very first design project, where I embraced the role of a solo designer with enthusiasm and a strong drive to learn and grow. Through this experience, I gained invaluable insights into collaborating closely with development teams to translate designs into functional products. I also honed my skills in effectively communicating design concepts to stakeholders and learned the importance of balancing user needs with business objectives to create impactful solutions.
